Animated music video for “Por Un Amor” by Chetes, who is an icon in Mexico’s rock scene. This song is from Chetes’ 2024 LP “Polvo De Estrellas”, which was a collaboration between Chetes and Calexico. This video is a stylized hybrid of live action and animation, blended so it almost gives it a hand-drawn or painted feel.
Chetes wanted the video to be set in the Sonoran Desert to highlight the desert feel of this collaboration with Calexico. I came up with the storyline of Chetes travelling through the desert and experiencing a fever dream where strange things happen around him as he performs the song with the band. The dragonfly and spider characters highlight the surreal feel of the video.
