Animated music video for “Tambores Para La Luna” for the band Los Mundos. This song is from the 2024 LP “Máquinas En Movimiento”. This video was inspired by the lyrics from the song, especially the line “feel your heartbeats, they will never be the same”. That phrase is sync’d with the pivotal part of the story, where our hero is transformed into a spreader of beauty and light. The use of robots as the main characters was inspired by name of the LP (“Machines in Motion”).
This video features a lot of character motion that is visualizing the music. For example, the two scorpions are playing “note-accurate” renditions of the drums and bass guitar parts. The flying “marimba” robot is playing an accurate representation of the synth arpeggio. And the mechanical heart’s motion and lighting are sync’d to specific instruments in the drum kit (kick drum, snare drum, crash cymbal). To create these effects, I transcribed each of the major parts into MIDI, by playing them on keyboard and recording the MIDI. I then used the MIDI signals to trigger the actions of some of the characters. While the storyline is the most important part of the video, these details contribute a lot to the feel and vibe of the video. As a musician, it’s important to me that any music that is shown visually is depicted accurately.
