This is an animated short that I made for Halloween 2024. I wanted to see how complete an short animation I could make in one day, just for fun. The music is “Halloween” by The Dead Kennedys. I removed the vocal, and then created MIDI performances of the drums, bass guitar and guitar parts. The MIDI was used to drive the animation of the drumming robot, the orb robot, and the strings of the large bass guitar. If you recognize some of the visual elements, it’s because I borrowed them from other projects. The robots are from Chetes’ Polvo de Estrellas video. The jack-o-lantern is from the Pub 53 Octoberfest Fireplace, and the bass guitar is from The All-Star Dreamers’ Little by Little video.
Innovations:
• Almost all of the animation is driven by MIDI notes. I created MIDI transcriptions of the drums, bass and guitar parts, and used those signals to drive the character motion.
• This video was rendered using “non-photorealistic rendering” (NPR) which is a technique to create anime-style animation.
